Volunteer Privacy & Liability Policy
_____________________________

At the Jeffery Alan Mitchell Medical Foundation (JAMMF), we take the privacy and safety of our volunteers, participants, and community partners seriously. By signing up to volunteer, you agree to the following principles:

Privacy & Confidentiality
____________________

  • JAMMF will never sell, share, or disclose volunteer information outside of organizational use.

  • Volunteers are expected to respect the privacy of individuals served, including not sharing names, stories, or personal health information of participants encountered during events.

  • Information about shelters, community partners, or other organizations we work with must also be treated as confidential.

  • No photos or posts: Volunteers, staff, and future employees are not permitted to take or share pictures, videos, or information that could violate HIPAA, compromise participant privacy, or conflict with the policies of partner organizations.

Boundaries
__________

  • For the safety of both volunteers and participants, JAMMF does not permit volunteers to meet individuals one-on-one.

  • All volunteer activities are conducted through events, shelters, or partner organizations, never independently.

  • This policy is in place to prevent potential risks or crimes from being committed against volunteers and to ensure that all interactions take place in a safe, accountable environment.

    • Volunteers must follow JAMMF’s event protocols and respect the oversight of staff or partner organizations at all times.
      Volunteer Screening
      _________________

      • All volunteers are required to complete a background check before participating in JAMMF events.

      • This process helps protect the safety of our participants, our partner organizations, and our volunteer team.

Liability
_______

  • While JAMMF provides training and supervision at events, volunteers participate at their own risk. JAMMF is not responsible for personal injury, lost property, or other liabilities incurred during volunteer service.

  • Volunteers are expected to conduct themselves in a safe, respectful, and professional manner at all times.

    Medical Disclaimer
    ________________

The Jeffery Alan Mitchell Medical Foundation (JAMMF) and its Wellness Without Barriers program are not a replacement for professional medical care. We are a community-based initiative providing general wellness and over-the-counter supplies to help make health conditions, minor injuries, and seasonal illnesses more manageable.

Any ongoing or serious health conditions should always be addressed by a licensed healthcare provider. JAMMF does not diagnose, treat, or prescribe for medical conditions.

If you cannot afford to see a physician, there are free or affordable healthcare options in Savannah:

    • JC Lewis Mobile Health Clinic

    • Good Samaritan Clinic

Both provide access to licensed healthcare providers for those who qualify.
